The riverbank and bridge next to L'escale are favoured spots by local fishermen. Fly fishing is also very popular during the trout season and the river is shallow enough in parts for waders.

There is an abundance of large Carp and Pike in the river. Perch and Barbel are also plentiful. The fishing can be challenging with fast gravelly runs, deep slides and boulder strewn deep eddies.

A fishing permit is required to fish the Dordogne and costs 30€ for 15 days, this is obtainable at the local tackle shop.
